THE MAN, THE LEADER, THE BISHOP

Bishop Floyd A. Walls Sr. was a Pentecostal-Holiness teacher and preacher. He was the founder and pastor of many churches namely, Macedonia C.O.G.I.C. (Ypsilanti, MI), Harrow Shiloh C.O.G.I.C. (Harrow Ontario, Canada), Inkster Shiloh C.O.G.I.C. (Inkster, MI), Detroit Shiloh C.O.G.I.C. (Detroit, MI), and Shiloh Church of God in Christ (Ypsilanti, MI). He later became the Jurisdictional Bishop of Canada Second Jurisdiction in the grand ole Church of God in Christ

On February 22nd, 1946 Bishop Walls was saved and baptized with the gift of the Holy Ghost. Three months later he was called to the Gospel ministry. The late Bishop C. L. Morton Sr. of Canada ordained Bishop Walls. Bishop Walls began pastoring in 1951 in his home and nine souls were saved and filled with the Holy Ghost. Bishop Walls then took his membership with his mentor and great leader Bishop C. L. Morton Sr. and the International Churches of God in Christ of Canada and the USA.

In time and great growth Bishop Walls was elected Vice-President of the International Churches of God in Christ of Canada and the USA. As the ministry grew, it was the desire of his heart to be apart of the greatest church in the world “THE CHURCH OF GOD IN CHIRST”. The Senior Bishop of the Church of God in Christ Bishop O. T. Jones Sr. found favor in the work God had appointed Bishop Walls to do. In 1967, Bishop O.T. Jones Sr. appointed him Bishop of Canada. At this time Bishop Walls appointed Mother Nasheda Mitchell as the Supervisor of Women. After the demise of Bishop O.T. Jones Sr. the church elected its first ever Presiding Bishop, Bishop J. O. Patterson of Memphis, TN. In 1986, Bishop J. O. Patterson and the General Board of the Church of God in Christ appointed and consecrated Bishop Walls to the newly created Jurisdiction, the “ Canada Second Jurisdiction.

In 1987, the Lord called Bishop Walls home to glory but the work was continued by Bishop Elton Lawrence of Detroit, MI. Bishop Lawrence is the father of First Lady May Blake and father-in-law of our present Presiding Bishop of the Church of God in Christ, Charles E. Blake Sr. The Jurisdiction is now renamed Michigan Canada Jurisdiction.


Bishop Walls has served for over forty years in the city of Ypsilanti, MI as a Pastor, and has been preaching and teaching the gospel for over forty-five years. Bishop Walls was a radio personality (gospel) for over twenty years. He attended Ypsilanti Public Schools and C. H. Mason Bible College. Bishop Walls took Alma Grayer of Harrow, Ontario, Canada as his wife. To this great union came nine children.

Floyd (Beverly), Ralph (Carol), Melvin, Floreen, Aaron (Annie Sue), Dwight (Mignon), Denise (Vernice), David (Who is now deceased), Deborah (Jerry). His children are serving the church in many areas in the Gospel Ministry.
